Can’t see the wood for the trees!

I’m posting a bit late as I’ve had a day off work today to make progress on my illustrated map of the Canal du Midi for Le Boat. I spent about six hours on Saturday painting all of the green background, and another eight hours today painting all of the trees and making a start on the shadows.

As you can probably imagine, I’d be happy if I never saw a little oval tree again in my life!

I also painted the little magnified section depicting the Fonserannes Locks.

That’s all I’ve got to share today, it went dark before I could take any more photos! I think I’ll post again next Monday as I’ve got another day off – see you then!

I’m sharing this post on the following blogs: Paint Party FridayHandmade Harbour and Blue Chair Diary Illustrations!

  1. Clare, your work simply BLOWS my mind. Your maps are stunning. You inspire me so much that when in Scarborough a little over a month ago, I picked up a map in hopes to give my hand a try and making one. 🙂

    Happy Christmas! 🙂

PS I added you to Mr. Linky! xx

  2. Goodness, i don’t know how you are able to concentrate for so long on something so small and detailed! Its looking fantastic 🙂 x
