I’m posting a bit late as I’ve had a day off work today to make progress on my illustrated map of the Canal du Midi for Le Boat. I spent about six hours on Saturday painting all of the green background, and another eight hours today painting all of the trees and making a start on the shadows.
As you can probably imagine, I’d be happy if I never saw a little oval tree again in my life!
I also painted the little magnified section depicting the Fonserannes Locks.
That’s all I’ve got to share today, it went dark before I could take any more photos! I think I’ll post again next Monday as I’ve got another day off – see you then!
I’m sharing this post on the following blogs: Paint Party Friday, Handmade Harbour and Blue Chair Diary Illustrations!

That is very clever – the magnified section that is. All those lock gates look a bit daunting.
Clare, your work simply BLOWS my mind. Your maps are stunning. You inspire me so much that when in Scarborough a little over a month ago, I picked up a map in hopes to give my hand a try and making one. 🙂
Happy Christmas! 🙂
PS I added you to Mr. Linky! xx
Goodness, i don’t know how you are able to concentrate for so long on something so small and detailed! Its looking fantastic 🙂 x
Wow this is fabulous. It takes talent and patience to create this. Well done.
It’s lovely, I love seeing your drawings. I can’t draw at all!
Holy cow, that’s amazing! Totally gorgeous style and detail. 😀
Still looking great Clare, I hope you had a good Christmas
Oh wow, that is looking amazing. I can appreciate all the time that went into the making of it, lovely work.
