This weekend has been an exciting one for my family as my sister and her boyfriend got engaged yesterday! I only have one sister, so I’m looking forward to all the wedding planning, dress shopping and fun in the run up to the big day in October. I’m sure there will be some wedding-related art and crafts going on too!
While my sister was busy being proposed to and my Mum was at the Stitching, Sewing and Hobbycrafts show with her friend in Manchester, my Dad came up to spend the day with me. We had a lovely morning eating cake, drinking tea and wandering around the museum in Barnstaple before heading off in search of some geocaches. We were a little more successful than last time, finding three of the five we were looking for.
Today has been an equally lovely day as Sam and I have made the most of the sunshine with a walk along the Tarka trail from Braunton, followed by lunch at the Fremington Quay Cafe and a short walk at Westward Ho! It felt like a shame to come back inside this afternoon, but my cutting board was calling!
I’ve been working on an elephant filled with Indian-style mandala patterns which is taking a very long time to cut, but it’s going well so far!
I drew it all out by hand, then photocopied and printed it on A4 paper to cut.
52 Faces
This week’s face belongs to my dad! It’s drawn from a photo taken on a walk along the coast at the end of last year. I thought it was about time I drew someone I knew!
Dad is number six in my 52 faces series and this is a New Year’s Resolution I’ve been enjoying keeping!

Ordered my brochure too. And as we haven’t arranged a holiday yet for the summer, it has made me think that one on a boat might be fun. The picture of your Dad is great. You get such details into a small drawing.
I’ll have to take commission at this rate π Hope you like the brochure when it arrives, thanks for your lovely comment π
