My latest illustration commission is finished! I’ve had so much fun working on these paintings for ‘The Halloween Chill’ by Judy Dixon. I’m very pleased to have been asked and can’t wait to see the printed book.

Here are both the illustrations on my very messy drawing board!

For the front cover, I drew the title out separately and overlaid it on the computer. I also added some light around the laptop and the crystal ball.

There’s space in the bottom left hand corner for Judy’s name, and space all around the edge to allow for trimming of the book when it’s printed.

The map below will be a double page spread just inside the cover of the book. You can click to enlarge it and see all of the detail.

Having finished these illustrations I’ve had a very relaxing week! It’s funny how even something I enjoy doing feels quite stressful when it’s so important to get right.

A little more time on my hands has allowed me to start on another page of my adult colouring book! If you haven’t heard about it, you can sign up to my newsletter and eventually I will get around to sending out an update.

I’m really hoping that adult colouring isn’t just a passing phase, because at the rate I’m going this book probably won’t be ready until next year!

52 Faces

I keep leaving these little portraits right until the last minute on a Sunday before I write my blog and as a result I keep going for the easy option of black and white pencil sketches. This little chap was extremely difficult (I always say beautiful people are the hardest to draw!) but it really was no chore examining his face for a couple of hours!

I drew one and then had to start again, so I hope it now looks like who it’s meant to, Channing Tatum.

That’s all for today folks! I just want to say thank you for all your lovely comments on each of my posts! I try to find time to go back and reply individually, but I’m not sure I’ll manage it today.

I have been receiving a lot of spam comments recently, so I’m going to try and put a captcha on, or some sort of barrier to stop them. I hope it doesn’t make it too difficult for those who’d like to comment, I’d be very disappointed to end up with none at all! Thank you for your understanding peeps πŸ™‚

I’m sharing this post on the following blogs:Β Paint Party Friday,Β Handmade HarbourΒ andΒ Blue Chair Diary Illustrations!

Oh you poor thing, having to stare at Channing Tatum for hours!
I love that this book has a map at the front , always my favourite bit in Winnie the Pooh and Millie Molly Mandy books. Your work is so beautiful and detailed, I can only imagine how exciting it will be when you see it on the book shelves.

Your colouring and sketches really should be put onto fabric, the Halloween one is fantastic plus very partial to buttons etc, don’t know why lol

Amazing work as always. On the spam comments – I hope you don’t mind my butting in, but I can see you’re using WordPress. I use the Akismet plugin on my blog and I haven’t seen one spam comment get through the net – it’s great at filtering them out. (My husband also uses it in his blog with a bigger readership than mine and it also filters out mean comments, which I find funny!) xx

your Halloween illustration is awesome!! i’m not surprised you were commissioned for this. Your work is extraordinary. And your mini faces! omg, i can’t believe how much detail you put in such a small drawing. Amazing. Very impressive. Have a great week! xx

Your Halloween illustrations look brilliant. I like them all, particularly the map. I don’t think adult colouring is just a craze. I was looking at some in a book shop, and they were so tempting.

Ah glad you think so Ginny, I’ve seen some sold in Asda now though, so hope they’re not getting cheaper!
