It was my sister, Kerry’s, hen party this weekend (she’s getting married four weeks yesterday!), so we spent a lovely day having afternoon tea followed by an evening of games and wine tasting.
There were a few crafty things which I was working on in the run up to her hen do which I couldn’t share with you before, just in case she took a peek on my blog!
Mum and I made these party bags from a roll of brown paper, following a tutorial which I blogged about here. It’s a really versatile bag and can be made whatever size you require, so ideal for strange shaped presents.
We made them quite tall so that the tops could be folded down and fastened with string. I made the names with individual letter stamps on white paper, backed with floral patterned card.
Inside were various different bits, including lip balm, a candle, an initialled champagne glass, paracetamol, sweets, a chocolate willy (!!!) and a rosette for each lady.
I made the rosettes out of a circle of fabric with running stitch around the edge, pulled tight and fastened with a piece of card in the centre. I sewed safety pins to the back and stuck a little printed circle on each. The ribbon tassels are also sewn on the back.
Mum and I also made my sister a sash, which I only have one photo of. I cut out the lettering and mum sewed it all on and crocheted a beaded edging. All of Kerry’s hens wrote a little message on a heart to be sewn on the back so it can be a keepsake forever more!
And just to lower the tone a little, here’s a photo of the chocolate willies in their moulds pre-refrigeration!
It’s getting harder and harder each week to think of a new person to draw! This week I chose Rhianna because I googled ‘celebrity’ and her photo came up.
