I’m back! I’ve spent the past week in Wales for work and it’s flown past in a bit of a whirlwind really! Unfortunately it wasn’t a great week weather-wise, but I got lots done and it was good to have a change of scenery.
Having said that, I had absolutely no time for art, which means that my whole weekend has been dedicated to catching up with progress on my illustrated map of the Canal du Midi.
On Saturday I painted all of the little attractions, which is easier said than done as I had to mix individual colours for each one and make sure that every detail was accurate.
Above is the illustration to represent ‘Australian Park’ near Carcassonne and on the right is Lake Cavayere, complete with swimmers and a miniature ‘Aquaviva Park’.
Today I painted the river, which had to be completed all in one go to make sure that the colour was consistent across the whole map.
I’m really looking forward to finishing now as I’ve been working on it for a long time and I’m looking forward to a break over Christmas! I’d also like to have the time to draw some more pages for my adult colouring book which has taken a bit of a back seat recently.
Below is a sped up video with a few snippets of me painting.
That’s about it for this evening, have a good week folks 🙂
I’m sharing this post on the following blogs: Paint Party Friday, Handmade Harbour and Blue Chair Diary Illustrations!

I’m really enjoying watching this develop, I’m looking forward to seeing the finished map. Wouldn’t it be good to be able to paint that quickly in real life? 🙂
