You may have noticed that I haven’t published a blog post for four weeks now. Well, I’ve had a great distraction! Introducing our little Munchkin, born on 29th February, weighing 6lbs 1oz. He took us by surprise, arriving two and a half weeks before he was due, but now we can’t imagine life without him.

He has been as good as gold so far – his favourite pastimes are currently sleeping, eating, cuddles and bath time!

The weather has been absolutely amazing down in Devon for the past week, so we’ve been venturing out for our first little outings as a family. Yesterday we went to the beautiful Wistlandpound Reservoir – it felt like the beginning of summer!

As he’s been sleeping a lot, I’ve been able to catch up on my latest paper cut heart commission. This is a fun little piece featuring the recipient’s gorgeous Westie dog.

I’m hoping to be able to take on more commissions now I’m on maternity leave, so please do let me know if you are interested. Just to give you an idea of price, an unframed paper cut heart of this size (including a selection of personal details and backed on the colour of your choice) would be Β£60 plus P&P.

This is where you are likely to find me over the next few months! Soaking up the sun in the conservatory, watching over the little Munchkin while he sleeps and working on some art πŸ™‚

I’m sharing this post on the following blogs:Β Handmade HarbourΒ andΒ Blue Chair Diary Illustrations!

What a little cutie patootie!
Enjoy time to craft when he’s sleeping, you never know how long it will last! Sounds like a perfect balance for now though.

Thanks Julie! I know, I think he’ll be running around my feet before I know it πŸ™‚ I’m trying to make some salt dough hand and foot prints but he’s a bit of a wriggler when he’s awake. I’ll try and sneakily do it while he’s asleep…

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he carries on this way! Yes, it does take a steady hand but it’s not as hard as it may seem! Patience is the main thing you need πŸ™‚

Thanks Barbara! Yes, I draw it out in pencil first, then scan it and print it to cut it out. That way I can do all the rubbings out on the rough piece of paper before printing it on nice paper to cut πŸ™‚

Your artwork is stunning, How you have the patience to cut out all of the little sections of the heart blows my mind, You definitely have a God given talent. I cannot begin to tell you how awed I am by your work. Your little bambino is precious. I am so happy for you and so glad you have found a wee bit of time to post on Sunday sketches. I am a true newbie to the art journal concept so this is my first time posting at Blue Diary. I cannot wait to see your work in the future. Enjoy every second with that dear baby, He will grow up way too fast. You will need to get some of the Magic Little Boy Dust to keep him small….that is what I always told me kiddies. genie

Thanks Genie! It’s actually really therapeutic – a bit like colouring in! Helps to clear the mind and is really satisfying to see it develop. I’m just off to take a look at your blog now, thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

Thanks Ginny! I know! He hung on deliberately so that he could be born on 29th – he was born at half past midnight! x

Oh bless him. Long may it all last! I got loads done while my middle one was a baby, she slept loads in the day. Not been so lucky with the youngest but her adorability makes up for it!
Your paper cut is beautiful and Β£60 really is a bargain for all the work you put into it!
I hope you enjoy lots of sunny days and great outings xxx

He is adorable Clare, an enormous congratulations to you both. I’m amazed that you can do all that cutting with a newborn too – I think I spent far too much time just gazing at Lucy when she was born.

A “LEAP”-BABY?!! – **COOL**!! – And He’s certainly a KEEPER! πŸ˜€
And YOU’re looking mighty FINE for someone who just gave birth!

Actually, we’ve just had an “addition” in our family recently as well. My youngest Niece had a 2nd Boy on Feb20. But they all live a ways from here so we haven’t seen him “in person” yet.

Anyhoo, LOVE the Papercut!! *MUNCHKIN*, too!

Ah congratulations to your niece, and yourself, Great Auntie! Thank you, I’m just starting to feel more myself now πŸ™‚ x

Hi Clare,
How wonderful to see you and Munchkin – he must have been ready and waiting for the Leap Year Birthday πŸ˜€
The paper cut looks amazing (as always) and I am so glad you have had super weather for walking and working πŸ˜€

Mega Hugs
